Hiroshi Nakagawa

Biography

Hiroshi Nakagawa is a professor of Information Technology Center, the University of Tokyo. His research interests include machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, privacy protection technologies among others.

He received a doctoral degree of engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1980. He was affiliated with Yokohama National University from 1980 to 1999. He moved to The University of Tokyo in 1999. His research encompasses natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning, among others. His current research themes include privacy protection technologies and privacy protection laws. He was the president of ANLP (The Association for Natural Language Processing). His books include `Machine Learning’ (Maruzen, in Japanese), `Mathematical Linguistics’ (Iwanami, in Japanese), and ‘Introduction to Privacy Protection.’
