Mats Sjöberg is a computer scientist at the University of Helsinki with a doctoral degree from Aalto University. His research focuses on machine learning applications, especially programming computers to learn to recognize patterns in different kinds of data. Mats has previously worked with huge image and video datasets, in particular detecting affective and emotional content, and general concept detection. Currently his focus is on personal data, in particular creating machine learning tools for individuals to manage and understand their digital footprint.
Mats is also involved in the free and open source software (FOSS) community, and has an interest in the ethical aspects of computing.
